MITACS scientific and networking events bring together partner organizations in the academic, public, private and not-for-profit sectors with university researchers to generate solutions and train graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. From single-day workshops and seminars to multi-week summer schools and conferences, MITACS provides the opportunity for researchers to network with their peers, members of the non-academic community, and researchers from other disciplines.
What can MITACS offer?
- Financial support
- Organizational support including website design and hosting, online registration, budgeting, venue and catering negotiation, event promotion, fee processing and claims reimbursement
Within the mathematical sciences, MITACS will consider funding for events that have a significant connection with MITACS theme areas and
- Have a major graduate training component
and/or
- Involve applications of mathematical sciences to problems with major economic or societal impact, or leverage significant participation from non-academic organizations.
In BC, Saskatchewan, Ontario, Newfoundland and Prince Edward Island, MITACS also has funding to support events in any academic discipline that:
- Target a provincial priority area
and/or
- Provide opportunities for academics to connect with the non-academic sector or with other disciplines with whom they do not normally interact
How to apply?
MITACS accepts networking proposals three times annually, on January 15, April 30, and September 10 of each year.
