For many Prairie dwellers, Saskatoon’s winters are a great excuse to escape to balmier climates. But for Mengying Liu, snowdrifts and cool temperatures were actually an attractive reason to come to the University of Saskatchewan.

When a friend first told Rui Pan about an opportunity to study and do research in Canada, he never could have imagined that one day, he would call Vancouver home. Fast-forward three years and the Simon Fraser University (SFU) student wouldn’t have it any other way.

When Wanyao Zhao came to Canada in the summer of 2012 he had one thing on his mind – the type of research he’d be doing as a Globalink Research Intern at the University of Toronto. What he didn’t expect was to be so warmly embraced by the people of at the University, not to mention those in the city’s Chinatown where he stayed for 12 weeks during his internship.

During a 12-week Mitacs Globalink research internship at the University of British Columbia in the summer of 2012, Linda Yang quickly realized she wanted to return to complete her Master’s.

Hailing from India’s National Institute of Technology-Surathkal, Pragyan Hazarika spent the summer of 2012 as a Globalink Research Intern at École de Technologie Supérieure. It was during this research internship that Pragyan fell in love with Montreal, and more importantly, the limitless research potential Canadian universities offer students.
