Holder of two US patents and numerous customer awards, Mel has a B.A.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Ottawa. He started his career at Bell-Northern Research — which became Nortel — and later worked at Energy-Mines and Resources (CANMET). He spent 16 years designing hardware and software used for building next generation telecommunications and wireless Internet networks. Mel moved on to business and market development, taking on international assignments working in EMEA and Asia advising international organizations how to make better use of technology. At Mitacs, Mel works closely with Canadian and international industry partners helping them innovate through leading Canadian research.
