The aim of this research and development project is to design and develop a bedside point-of-care (POC) device for cardiovascular health management. We will develop a prototype of an electrochemical-based strip which is able to detect a heart condition-indicating biomarker with ultra-high sensitivity. A portable electronic strip meter that is compatible with the strip prototype will be designed and implemented simultaneously. The project intends to address economic feasibility of the POC device vs current health care cost structure.
- To design and develop a reliable and disposable electrochemical sensor strip for the detection and quantification of a cardiac biomarker from very low sample volumes and concentration
- To understand the electrochemical performance of the developed strip-based sensor using a precise stationary potentiostat in a lab environment
