Audacia Bioscience specializes in immunoassays and lateral flow technology. We have extensive proficiency in the development in a wide variety of assays, comprising of multiple formats and platforms. Our future work involved the development of exhaled breath drug detection technology. 

Summary of Project:

The objective of the research program will be to develop sensing polymers for the detection of VOCs related to drug exposure.  The work will include synthesis and testing of polymers for the creation of sensor that will be deployed in a hand held device. 

Research Objectives/Sub-Objectives:

  • Identify polymers for VOC absorption
  • Measure VOC absorption and desorption rates (including temperature dependence)
  • Design polymer structures to optimize mass transport and uptake
  • Create sensor arrays for VOC identification
  • Optimize detection limit and determine figures of merit


    • Polymer sythesis and composite formation
    • Deposition methods including spray, spin-coating, and electrochemical
    • Resistance and mass change measurements
    • GC-MS, IR and thermal methods

    Expertise and Skills Needed:

    • Polymer synthesis and characterization
    • Electrochemical and electronic measurements
    • Analytical chemistry
