Describe the project.: 

MacroXstudio would like to use temporal and spatial data to predict high resolution macroeconomic activity variation of sub/super- national trends in economic growth. The intern will create, optimize, and validate a machine learning model to predict these economic growth trends. MacroXStudio has already procured the data required for model development and training. A keen focus on model interpretability will be required due to the nature of the predictions and their use cases.

The Deliverables of The Project:

  • Create a Predictive Model that is interpretable.
  • Optimize and Validate Model.
  • Clear documentation of the Data Analysis and Machine Learning WorkFlow and decisions made throughout the project’s life cycle

Required expertise/skills: 

Intern Degree level = Masters, PhD, or Post Doctoral Fellow
Strong understanding of :

  • Statistics
  • Big Data
  • Data Exploration
  • Feature Generation
  • Training Machine Learning Models in Python, R

Adapting open-source tools for the project goals.
Advanced modeling skills –  3+ statistical learning courses at the grad level.
Some understanding or interest in the financial markets and the macroeconomy also helps!

Preferred Degree : Computer Science, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or equivalent with strong coding / data analytics background (STEM)
