About the company: 

NS Magnetics is a 5-year old company focusing on high efficiency rare earth magnet motor design and production, using PCB and copper trace to replace lamination stator, for automotive, aerospace, medical and other industrial applications. It also develops new process and technology for soft and rare earth permanent magnets used in electric motors.  

Describe the project.: 

Current motors on the market are made with heavy lamination steels with copper windings. They are bulky and less efficient.

Current rare earth NdFeB Magnet production involves many steps, quality is not easy to control, with a lot of waste materials.

The project is for a completely new electric motor with PCB as a stator to replace heavy lamination steels, using a rare earth NdFeB magnet made from an improved process.

PCB motor: less cogging, increased life expectancy, high efficiency, less weight and material, less harmonics.

Rare earth NdFeB magnet process improvement: No hydrogen decrepitation – dangerous hydrogen gas avoided

No isostatic pressing and sintering - cycle time reduced from 2 days to a few minutes

Machining – further development to eliminate machining process by net shape pressing

The goal is to make rare earth magnets by improved process, then make a rare earth magnet motor using PCB as stator and cooper trace as windings.

Tasks to be performed by the candidate: Design PCB layout and mechanical structure of a rare earth magnet motor. Design a tool used in MIM (metal injection molding), SPS (spaspark plasma sintering) or hot pressed machine for die-upsetting of a rare earth NdFeB magnet.  

Required expertise/skills: 

PCB and motor design with 3D flux software, experience with MIM, SPS, hot pressed machine, die upsetting, rare earth NdFeB magnet.
