Recent work includes VectorSense in-road sensor technology, which utilizes time domain reflectometry technology to measure tire contact at highway speeds to derive a variety of vehicle characteristics.  IRD is currently researching and developing non-intrusive vision AI technology for the ITS industry. 

Describe the project.: 

International Road Dynamics is a company focused on roadway safety, working with governments and private industry worldwide to collect data to make better decisions for commercial vehicles on roadways. We are looking for an individual who wants to make a difference in road safety and road design through research and data analytics with an eye toward academic publications. 

This project has both an external and an internal goal. The external goal is to advance the body of knowledge within the Intelligent Transportation sector by publishing high-quality research. The internal goal is to use high-quality research to improve the products and offerings of the company, by giving internal presentations, and pre-publication data. Specific areas of research will include correlation of vehicle behavior (e.g. lane position) to road design, correlation of measurable factors to safety violations on commercial vehicles, and factors influencing weigh-in-motion sensor accuracy. Further areas of research may be added as insight is gained into these areas. 

This work will include literature reviews, compiling and quality checking data from internal and external sources, data analytics, creation and presentation of findings, and publication of findings.
