About the company:

Suppli is a tech-powered reusable takeout container service that uses an innovative model to eliminate single-use containers from the takeout and delivery industry. Female-founded and based in Toronto, Suppli partners with local restaurants to provide reusable containers so customers can enjoy takeout without the waste.

Describe the project.:

Suppli is building out the technical platform to manage a returnable container system at scale. The back-end for this platform is currently being built out to automate and optimize a number of manual processes that are prohibiting scale. The founders are both non-technical, so all that exists now is a very low-tech, no-code solution that is breaking as transactions volume increases. The main goal of the project is to have a back-end system and dashboard that automates the accounting of food containers in transit (e.g., leaving a restaurant, going to a customer, being returned), and the related communications (e.g., return instructions, return reminders, etc.). This should be a system that is user-friendly to non-technical personnel. The project includes the following main tasks:

  • Produce data visualizations and reports using SQL and AWS Quicksight (or similar tools) to meet business needs
  • Interpret Suppli’s operational data to generate useful insights to present to the team and to proactively identify enhancements to data quality
  • Generate data-related queries and investigations
  • Maintain Suppli’s operational data warehouse and related documentation
  • Research new ways to make use of the data to optimize Suppli’s existing processes
  • Incorporate new data sources to Suppli’s data repository by building AWS data pipelines

Required expertise/skills:

  • Experience in data management, data mining, data visualization, SQL, and Python
  • Working knowledge of AWS and cloud computing platforms
  • Excellent communication and multi-tasking skills
