Comparing reliability and validity of the BMHS for capturing children and youth with mental health needs, against the ChYMH-S
The current research explores the reliability and validity of the BMHS for capturing children and youth with mental health needs, against the ChYMH-S. Specifically, we seek to evaluate the predictive validity of the BMHS for identifying high need, resource-intensive cases against the validated measures included in the ChYMH-S, and to further examine the convergent validity of the BMHS and the ChYMH-S by means of an item-level analysis. As the relationships between predictor variables and algorithms on the BMHS and the ChYMH-S are better understood, it will help synchronize the instruments to facilitate enhanced the instruments are well synchronized to facilitate enhanced access to mental health services for children and youth across the system of services and supports.
