Styles and distribution of Cu-Au Deposits south-central Turkey

The research project undertaken by Fabien Rabayrol will consist of studying styles, distributions, ages and metal endowments of gold and copper deposits located along an east-west oriented belt in south-central Turkey from June to October, 2014. The immediate goals of his research will be to understand the regional and deposit-scale structural settings in which they form, perform structural and mineral mapping, characterization of alteration envelopes which surround them, collect samples to be used for age determinations and eventually decipher their geochemical signature in the context of host rocks that surround these deposits. His results will provide the project partner company, Centerra Gold Corporation, not only a better understanding of their exploration targets but also an appreciation for the overall mineral potential of this region through solid geological field, mapping and preliminary laboratory work. The research ideas and data will be communicated orally during one-on-one meetings with the company technical staff in Turkey and Canada as well as via technical reports, memos, maps and data sets.
