Luz Anchondo Vásquez has always had an interest in helping people. She’s combining that interest with her mechatronics background, thanks to the Globalink Research Internship.

Luz first heard about the Globalink Research Internship through her university, Mexico’s Tecnológico de Monterrey Campus Chihuahua. With the support of a friend who was a previous intern, Luz applied and was matched on a project with Dr. Lionel Birglen at École Polytechnique de Montréal’s Mechanical Engineering department.

César Maldonado Monter fuels a dream in Canada

Refining innovative technologies

With the support of Pierre des Lierres, Business Development Director at Mitacs, the company obtained the financial support of Mitacs Accelerate Quebec and connected with Iban Harlouchet and Professor Pierre Lafaye de Micheaux from the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Université de Montréal. Iban undertook research at Odotech to optimize algorithms of the e-nose sensors that analyze olfactory emissions.

Mitacs Accelerate stimulating research and development in small businesses

Sonomax Technologies Inc. is a Montreal-based business that specializes in manufacturing hearing protection products. The company developed a unique type of high-performance, custom earphones that provide noise isolation with hearing protection. This allows users to listen to their portable music player at a lower volume adjust to compensate for noise in their surroundings. But before introducing this new product to the market, the company needed to go through the prototyping stage.
