Luanna’s in Canada as a Mitacs Globalink intern where she’s collaborating with Professor Wei Peng on a project to make wind power more efficient.
“Ever since I was a teenager, I’ve had a love for renewable energy,” says Luanna. “When I read about this project, I jumped at the chance to take part in it and further my knowledge.”

After earning her undergraduate degree at Beijing China Agricultural University, Liu decided she wanted to explore a frostier environment for the next phase of her academic career.
“It’s kind of ridiculous, but I’d heard people saying it can turn to minus 30 or even 40 in the winter (in Saskatoon) and I really wished I could see those piles of snow,” Liu said, laughing.

Wendy Ortega Pineda is determined to do her part to make the world a more equitable place. As a law student at Universidad Autónoma de Baja California in Mexico, Wendy has learned much about the profound differences between nations regarding access to basic resources, issues of discrimination, and justice for human rights violations. This summer, she is further enhancing her worldly perspective by taking part in a 12-week research internship at the University of Saskatchewan.

Engineering plays a critical role in keeping infrastructure safe, whether for workers on an oil rig or drivers crossing a bridge as part of their commute. Abhijit Chilukuri is putting his mechanical engineering degree to work making infrastructure even safer.
Abhijit is studying at the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, in India and wanted to pursue an international internship to complement his schooling. He researched several internship options and decided to apply for the Globalink Research Internship after it was recommended by several senior classmates.

Together with Ralph and Chris’ guidance, Suzanne put together an application for a Mitacs Accelerate grant which would afford Indie Ink access to a top-level graduate student for her tech idea. Suzanne wanted to develop a platform for a truly interactive and multi-dimensional experience for adult non-fiction book in her catalog: The New Rock Star Philosophy: A Guerilla Blueprint for Digitally Conscious Artists.

Hailing from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, Daniela is stationed at the University of Saskatchewan for 12 weeks to work alongside Professor Adelaine Leung in the Department of Biomedical Sciences. Her interest in neurocognitive and neurodegenerative diseases paired perfectly with Professor Leung’s research project on depression.
