Vers un environnement engageant sur l’investissement socialement responsable au sein d’un dispositif de sensibilisation sur le Web

L’objectif de ce projet de recherche est d’identifier l’ensemble des éléments permettant de développer un environnement engageant sur l’investissement socialement responsable (ISR) (c’est-à-dire menant au changement comportemental) au sein d’un dispositif de sensibilisation sur le Web. Il répond aux deux freins majeurs du développement actuel du marché du détail de l’ISR : un manque d’information et une complexité des produits ISR. Ce projet répond à la fois à la mission, aux objetctis et à l’engagement en termes de développement durable de Fondaction.

Le département de Prévision et Analytique de TD Assurance est actuellement en charge de prédire les ventes et les revenues des différents produits d'assurance sur une base annuelle et mensuelle. Prédire les revenues, et ceci de manière précise, est crucial pour l’entreprise et son bon fonctionnement. Les modèles jusqu'alors utilisés ont étés construits il y a un peu plus de dix ans et ont été implémentés avec le logiciel Excel. Ces modèles sont complexes et requièrent trop de manipulations manuelles, engendrant non seulement des erreurs potentielles mais également une perte de temps.

The design and quality of the indoor environment is understood to play an important role in the well-being and productivity of building occupants. While many building and design strategies have been employed to enhance the indoor environmental quality of workplace environments there is a surprising a lack of empirical evidence drawn from buildings in-use that shows how such strategies actually affect occupants.

Predicting recovery in patients receiving disability benefits: A validated instrument Year Two

A significant number of long-term disability (LYD) claims accepted by insurers remain active for substantial time periods and are associated with considerable socioeconomic costs. There is inconsistency in the literature as to what factors predict recovery in these patients. Using the adminisatrative database of SSQ Financial, I will identify all factors that are predictive of claim resolution for all disability conditions.

Development and Validation of Defined Biomaterial Surfaces to Grow Stem Cells Suitable for Regenerative Medicine Year Two

The proposed research aims to develop and validate surfaces that have no components of animal origin for the growth of stem cells. Materials not of animal origin are required for the growth of stem cells if they are to be used clinically to treat disease and/or injury. Initially, surfaces already developed and designed by the fellow during his Ph.D. will undergo testing for stem cell growth. Concurrently, additional surfaces will be developed with stem cell niches identified by StemCell Surfaces.

Guided Catheter System Based on Smart Polymeric Brush Coating for Vascular Surgery Year Two

Ventures (IV)~ Canada supports the development of novel application for guided catheters and serving the CVD market, it will directly benefit from this research. We anticipate generating new intellectual properties based on the work described. N previously licensed a technology from the research performed in Kizhakkedathu and Phani's laboratories on catheters and the current project will expand that technology further.

The main cause of cardiovascular disease (CVD) is narrowing of blood vessels due to atherosclerosis. In such cases stents are chronically implanted in -arteries to physically expand and scaffold the vessels. Each year, ~90,OOO stents are implanted in Canadians. All these minimally invasive procedures involve the use of a catheter. Currently available catheter tubes advance straight in blood vessels; it remain a challenge to the cardiac catheterization in bifurcated cardiac arteries which are blocked.

Addressing Basis Risk in Agricultural Index-Based Insurance

The objective of the proposed research is to design and implement an innovative IBI scheme capable of minimizing basis risk. Forage insurance will be used as an example to empirically examine the effective implementation of the IBI, through establishing an adequate relationship between the weather index and forage yield. Therefore, a second objective of the proposed research is to help increase producer demand for forage insurance.

Pathways to Prosperity: New policy directions and innovative local practices for newcomer integration and attraction

This project will aim to promote interagency collaboration in order to improve immigrant integration. In order to achieve this goal, the intern will be involved in clarifying employer and college/university needs, local settlement agency capacities, and the institutional mechanisms that would be needed to promote and govern interagency collaboration. The research process will involve interviews, focus groups, and reviews of the literature. The project will lay out a coherent, evidence-based set of ideas and propositions to be used by LASI to construct viable commercial relationships.
