Our project will investigate reasons for and against posthumous organ donation, and aims to better understand the motives and deterrents for becoming, or not becoming, a registered organ donor. The results of this study will inform the development of public awareness campaigns designed to address the concerns and viewpoints of the Canadian public and have a lasting impact on increasing organ donation registration. This project is relevant to the intern?s doctoral research on public trust in posthumous organ donation, and will further Lashbrook Marketing and Public Relations?
This project will aim to improve the effectiveness of the delivery of cultural competency training programs to London Cross Cultural Learner Centres clients. In order to achieve this goal, the interns will be involved in clarifying employer needs and preferences, and the marketing mechanism that would be needed to improve delivery efficiency. The research process will involve interviews, focus groups, and reviews of the literature.

Greenhouse industry is an important agricultural sector in Canada. Approximately half of the Canadian vegetables is produced in commercial greenhouses. Ontario greenhouse industry contributes to 40% of greenhouse production in Canada. As one of the most important greenhouse crops, tomato production is threatened by canker disease leading to significant loss for growers. Tomato canker disease is caused by Clavibacter michiganensis subsp. michiganensis (Cmm), a Gram-positive bacterium. This is a very difficult plant disease to eradicate or manage. Extensive research has been conducted for the computational analysis of mass spectrometry based proteomics data, however most of the traditional computational approaches take the assumption that the acquired spectra are generated from the fragmentation of a single precursor and the peptide is simply a linear sequence of amino acid residues. This ubiquitous assumption is impeding the utility of those computational approaches, especially when handling those non-canonical tandem mass spectra.
Hearing aids are now fully digital, advanced signal processors. Studies show that the sound quality of todays hearing aids is important, and may impact how a hearing aid user enjoys music. Few tools are available for clinicians to measure hearing aid sound quality in daily practice. In this project, we will develop and implement a tool for this purpose.
In 2009 the Government of Ontario enacted the Green Energy Act (GEA) to promote the development of renewable energy projects. Subsequently, the importance of wind generation both for electricity generation and in public debate has grown dramatically in Ontario. While the GEA simplified the regulatory process for developing renewable energy projects, wing turbine siting has become increasingly contentious in many Ontario communities.
Sugarbush Spa is a London-based company that specializes in the removal of unwanted body hair by a method known as sugaring. The method, used for centuries in the Middle East, has several notable advantages over traditional waxing. Commercially available sugaring pastes suffer from inconsistency in production and unsatisfactory performance. At its core, the creation of sugaring paste is a synthetic organic chemical reaction, hydrolyzing the disaccharide sucrose to the two monosaccharides glucose and fructose.
The smart hybrid DC-AC microgrid is an emerging technology with remarkable potential benefits such as (i) facilitating integration of distributed energy resources and renewables, (ii) improving reliability and quality of the electrical energy supplied to the consumers, (iii) increasing the efficiency of power generation, transmission, and distribution systems, and (iv) facilitating implementation of Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure.
Micro-tunneling technique is considered a feasible means to construct pipelines and tunnels in different types of ground including Queenston shale. However, this shale exhibits time-dependent deformation behavior, generally known as the rock swelling which produces additional stresses on underground structures. These stresses may exceed the allowable tensile or compressive strength of concrete of the pipeline or the tunnel liner, which in-turn may result in
cracks in these structures.
