Incorporated in March 1994, Kirax International Inc. is a privately held company offering services in the field of fundamental and applied research through the development of products related to functional health for the sports, sports medicine, and industrial sectors.

The main objective of Kirax International is to offer products (neuro-facilitators) that improve functional health by optimizing performance in order to help prevent and reduce musculoskeletal dysfunctions associated with repetitive and restrictive motion syndrome. (Tests performed in the physiology lab of the kinanthropology department of the Université du Québec à Montréal. Tests of vertical impulse; maximal leg strength; anaerobic power-Wingate and speed of field hockey throw.)

The project concerns the quantification of the motor reflex of the human being, more specifically his neurological vigilance in telecommuting, in daily life, in sport, or in the company when he uses the REFLEX KIRAX technological products.

The main goal of the Kirax company is to be associated with one or more experts who can calculate the reflex ergonomics of the daily human being (his neuro-motor tipping point).

The final product(s) (sensors or nano-sensors) would be introduced in smart clothes. By using the REFLEX KIRAX technology products, the user could have a daily reading of his neurological vigilance and modify it if necessary by certain neuro-facilitating exercises (which increase the % of the motor reflex without modifying the voluntary command).

Expertise ou compétences exigées: 

Knowledge of the three main categories of technologies, solutions, and products were distinguished: 

  1. Sensors, where the input signal is the characteristic of interest. These are, for example, textile sensors for temperature, gas, deformation or positioning, or electrodes integrated into textiles; 
  2. Indicators/actuators, whose output signal is the characteristic of interest. Examples include heating fibers, antibacterial fabrics, textile screens, pleomorphic fabrics, self-cleaning surfaces, an automatic and garment-integrated defibrillator, and photovoltaic fibers; 
  3. Materials and components: polymers, carbon, metals, inks, connectors, antennas, etc., that are used to produce the smart textile.
