Convergence of Agile and DevOps in ENCQOR 5G Software Development

This project develops a new project management method for software development targeting next-generation network providing unprecedented quality of cellular service to Canadians and small and medium businesses, stimulating innovations and improving the quality of life of our people. Relying on the ENCQOR infrastructure, which is the first 5G network in Canada supported by three governments (Quebec, Ontario, and Canada), the outcomes of this research project will contribute substantially to the progress of the Canadian information and communication technologies industry.

Development of design algorithms for WDM network modernization

The rapid technological evolution of telecommunication networks demands service providers to regularly update their technology, with the aim of remaining competitive in the marketplace. However, upgrading the technology in a network is not a trivial task. When modernizing a network, the existing infrastructure and network components need to be taken into account. The design exercise must not only take into consideration the overall desired functionality and capacity but also the existing network properties.

Development of algorithms for scheduling WDM network migrations

The rapid technological evolution of telecommunication networks demands service providers to regularly update their technology, with the aim of remaining competitive in the marketplace. However, upgrading the technology in a network is not a trivial task. New hardware components need to be installed in the network and during the installation, network connectivity may be temporary compromised.

Development of design algorithms for WDM software defined networks

New developments in optical networks management is allowing to control network with a higher degree of abstraction. Software defined networks aim at providing simple mechanisms to manage open interface between devices and equipment within the network and the software controlling them. Furthermore, managing networks using software allows adapting them to evolving traffic patterns and applications, dedicating bandwidth where it is needed.
