Development of design algorithms for WDM software defined networks
New developments in optical networks management is allowing to control network with a higher degree of abstraction. Software defined networks aim at providing simple mechanisms to manage open interface between devices and equipment within the network and the software controlling them. Furthermore, managing networks using software allows adapting them to evolving traffic patterns and applications, dedicating bandwidth where it is needed. This added degree of flexibility also allows service providers to increase their revenue by offering a wider range of services. In the proposed PhD project, we will investigate different software defined technologies and algorithms in order to determine the best possible SDN architectures, enabling technologies and service offering in the context of national network modernization activities.
