Virtual Documentation Centre on Women's Rights and Development in Haiti

This project aims to improve access to documentation and scientific research on women and development in Haiti. Indeed, knowledge availability and accessibility remain very limited on such issues domestically as well as for international stakeholders. It is worth noting that ENFOFANM which was the only existing documentation centre on women’s rights in Haiti was destroyed in the January 2010 earthquake and has not been rebuilt since. It is thus urgent to create platforms providing reliable data to actors from the public sector, non-governmental structures and the numerous international organizations operating in Haiti. Our initiative will create an online documentation centre and compile all the relevant literature and studies addressing gender, women’s rights and development issues. This documentation will consequently not only bridge a gap in terms of knowledge management and accessibility but also be an invaluable resource for decision-makers in designing programs as well as public policy aiming to foster equitable development and economic empowerment in Haiti. ORÉGAND, the Not-for-profit (NFP) partner, will greatly benefit from the expansion of its capacity to disseminate knowledge on women’s rights (French speaking countries and areas in the world).
