Monitoring, Analyzing, and Mitigating Electrical Vehicle (EV) Anomalies and Failures

This project is designed to build a system and software that will monitor and analyze the Electrical Vehicle (EV) bearing anomalies and failures. We will develop a framework that will address the EV bearing failure modes, its effect, and the key features of each failure mode. Later, we will collect the bearing data at “Solution Serafin”, and ingest it in an AI tool for the diagnosis and prognosis of the EV bearing failure. This tool will provide the EV driver and our partner the remaining useful bearing life, and consequently an enhanced maintenance planning strategy.

Grid-friendly large-scale aggregation of Electric Vehicles

The objective of this proposal is to propose an optimized aggregation model for a friendly, interoperable, and cooperative interaction between the EVs and their host electrical grid. In doing so, the EVs will promptly participate in ancillary services of power grids. The power grid will in turn provide intelligent access of EVs to charging stations in order to further promote the EV proliferation. Such integration will provide an opportunity for both EV owners (entities) and the utility owners to benefit from the massive deployment of EVs.

Accurate Image Geo-Localization using Smartphones

To improve traveller services in train stations, SNCF and Keolis Canada seek to develop a mobile application for real-time geo-localisation based on still images captured by the user on its smartphone. This would allow guidance through the station and provide key information. This project will develop a Deep Learning (DL) model for accurate and real-time image-based geo-localisation, relying on novel computer vision and trained by image datasets previously collected and anonymized by SNCF.

Development of robust and innovative designs for pet products aiming at positively affecting pet behavior

In most cases, the overwhelming reason behind pet abandonment is because of behavioral problems. Often, these behavioral problems are common issues that could be corrected if owners were to better understand their pets. Beonebreed, a young Canadian company active in the pet products’ market, proposes the development of two products aiming at the resolution of this problem. The desensitizer will be a unique product on the market, an interconnected product that will partly imitate the methods of a pet behaviorist by rewarding the animal when a positive event happens.

Optimisation des niveaux de stock de pièces de rechange

La STM vient d’incorporer un progiciel de gestion d’entreprise (ERP) et souhaite valoriser les données des stocks de pièces afin de réduire ses coûts d’entreposage. Ce projet est la phase initiale d’un projet d’envergure et il vise à développer un outil d’aide à la décision du processus de stockage et de transit des pièces de rechange dans les centres de contrôle. Il s’agit concrètement de mettre en place un processus efficace d’identification des stocks et de voir s’il est possible d’automatiser les modèles descriptifs des inventaires avec les données de l’ERP.

A scalable data science platform to support intelligent freight services and logistics

ShipHaul Logistics aims at developing an Intelligent Freight Services platform towards the digitization, integration and optimization of freight management. The proposed project is the first step to provide the foundations and infrastructure and kickstart the development of the envisioned platform. To this end, we will emphasize evaluation, testing and comparative studies concerning the efficiency and capabilities of various software solutions for the constituent modules of the proposed platform.
