Over the past 10 years, industry has drawn on different principles to support the creation of more inclusive and diverse workplaces. These principles include Equity, Diversity and Inclusion; Gender Based Analysis; decolonization; and safe spaces. In this research project, we will read what experts have written about these topics to find out what is most relevant to workplace training. We will also do a survey with selected companies to learn what approaches they are using. Then, we will review what we have found and ask, “What ideas are common to all or many of these approaches?” These shared values and practices will be presented in two reports and a factsheet that explain what makes these approaches important and helpful. Using these findings, Calian will develop training materials that can be used by the private, public, and NGO sectors to enhance their workplace policies and foster a more inclusive work environment.
