Applied theatre in Organizational Settings

The main focus of this project is to explore the use of drama and theatre techniques in organizational and management contexts to support transformational learning and enhance professional practice. Through case studies from different cultural backgrounds, the research will examine how applied theatre, as an embodied exploration, facilitates the transformation of organizational knowledge from tacit to explicit. It will also analyze the techniques, conventions, benefits, and challenges involved in such methodology. The research will highlight how an applied theatre approach provides more possibilities of choice for theatre practitioners working alongside consultants, those in management and leadership positions, and in the design and delivery of executive education curricula. Participating institutions can benefit greatly from the collaborative project effort to unite the experience of the Concordia Masters in Human Systems Intervention with the development of a similar program in Colombia. The project will provide Universidad del Valle with a new perspective on the practical and applied aspects of this field, with an emphasis on experiential learning and the emergence of new knowledge in organizational change contexts. The findings from this research will contribute to a book co-authored by the Concordia professor, enriching the academic discourse and practical applications in the field.
