In this internship a student will work with the Health Design Lab at Emily Carr University and Alzheimer Society of BC to conduct research and design work related to design and dementia. Alzheimer Society of B.C. works to support and create a more dementia-friendly society, where people affected by dementia are acknowledged, supported and included. In this Internship, a design student will work with the Health Design Lab and Alzheimer Society of B.C. to support several key projects related to dementia. COVID-19 has brought many challenges to the ways in which people living with dementia (PLWD) are able to connect with others and access services, care and activities. It has also impacted the ways in which PLWD are able to participate in research. This project will seek to address these challenges by facilitating conversations about dementia-friendly research practices at the Dementia Lab Conference, and through community engagement and participatory design research on the impact of COVID-19 for people with dementia and caregivers.
