Effect of dynamic elbow pronosupination adjustment on upper-limb biomechanics during functional training exercises

Standard training barbell impose a static orientation of the hand with the palm either facing up or down. Recently, Orbital Rotation International Inc. developed a device that allows to dynamically adjustment of the hand’s orientation during motions. Our objective is to assess the effect of hand orientation adjustment on upper-limb biomechanics during functional training exercises. We will track upper limb motion, record force at the hand and muscle activity while participants will perform training exercises with a standard barbell and the Orbital Rotation device. Three experiments will be conducted to assess the effect of the Orbital Rotation device on muscle activations, muscle fatigue and joint constraints. The partner organization will be provided with an evidence-based knowledge of the biomechanical advantages provided by the Orbital Rotation device.
