Exploring the experience of leadership and career advancement of newcomers to Canada in small urban and rural settings

It is a special experience for newcomers to move to a small urban or rural Canadian community. This study explores what that experience is like, particularly related to work. It also looks at what the community and its leaders see as things that either help or get in the way of new Canadians succeeding in their work and becoming part of their community. We will explore these experiences with newcomers and community leaders/individuals both old and new and then come together to explore ways the experience can be even better for all concerned. As a group we will co-develop recommendations for action to improve the experience of newcomers to Canada in their work and becoming a part of their community.
