Next generation membrane electrode assemblies for high power density fuel-cells for heavy duty zero emission vehicles

The proposed project involves pre-commercial research and development for a BC-based Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) product, including: i) development and characterization of novel materials – transport layers in the (MEA) of high-power density PEM fuel cells; and ii) establishment of standardized material testing protocols/procedures to be injected into Ballard’s next-generation products, targeted at the heavy-duty commercial truck ZEV industry.
The project will support growth in BC’s ZEV sector through improved BC based product offerings; address specific ZEV challenges, through reducing FC cost and increasing power density; showcase BC expertise and technology leadership; train the next-generation of highly qualified personnel; and support pre-commercial R&D for a BC based product.
