Radiotherapy is an effective method to prevent recurrence of disease after the prostate is surgically removed as part of the cancer treatment process. However, since microscopic disease is not visible by conventional imaging techniques, treatment sites are typically determined based on consensus guidelines. PSMA-PET is a novel imaging modality which is able to detect recurrences with higher sensitivity than existing techniques. We propose to build a population-based probability risk map by registering a large number of positive PSMA-PET/CT images onto a reference patient. We will also apply machine learning methods to leverage information on individual risk factor profiles and population data, which will allow us to adjust and tailor the risk map to each individual patient. In this way, radiation treatments may be better targeted to the regions at highest risk of bearing microscopic disease.
