Remote-Sensing Diagnostic Approach for Modeling Potato Yield Variability

Remote sensing technology has been developing rapidly in the past few years, and agriculture research is utilizing this development through crop monitoring and assessment. The potato crop is very susceptible to climate change impacts such as drought, which require a real-time monitoring system that supports farmers to take quick and accurate actions. This research project is proposing a novel approach that predicts precisely where in the farm and when there will be a potential crop yield decline using satellites and drones. Our efforts in this research are also to help the environment by encouraging farmers to use fewer fertilizers which will sustain ecosystem balance and protect surface water from pollution.
