The Annual Canadian School Survey

Public education is the starting point for building a prosperous, inclusive, entrepreneurial, and equitable society in Canada. However, education systems in Canada are compartmentalized from one another with little shareable data to help understand differences, promote cross-jurisdictional learning, or develop Canada-wide strategies to support change. People for Education and the Centre for Leading Research in Education at Wilfrid Laurier University are partnering to help tackle these data gaps by developing the Annual Canadian School Survey. This survey will ask principals across Canada about the vital resources they have in schools to understand how programming, supports, and learning opportunities are distributed in K-12 schools across Canada. Using this evidence, we hope policymakers will be able to communicate across provincial and territorial borders to begin to build a pan-Canadian education strategy to prepare students for the future.
