Thermal Breaks in Balcony Slabs for Energy Efficient Buildings

The project aims to enhance energy efficiency of buildings by studying thermal break devices at the connection between balcony slabs and floor slab. The intern will design and build floor assembly incorporating the design with the help of the indutry partner. This assembly will be tested at Queen’s niversity to examine the strength and stability of this desiign. Results will be of great value to the precast concrete industry as thermal breaks are currently not being introduced in precast structures.
