Climate change is affecting agriculture in Canada in varied and complex ways. While northern areas may experience more favourable conditions for commodity crops, other regions face challenges such as increased temperature variability and extreme weather. Emerging agricultural technologies, including digital agriculture tools, controlled environment agriculture, and advances in agri-genomics, present promising solutions to enhance resilience and sustainability in agri-food systems. However, no single technology is a silver bullet for food system sustainability issues, and research is required to better understand opportunities and potential impacts for their implementation. To address this gap, this research project: (1) examines threats and risks of climate change on BCs fruit and vegetable production using spatial and climate models, (2) identifies opportunities for adopting agri-technologies with climate mitigation potential by surveying producers, and (3) analyzes the potential effects of policy incentives on technology adoption and sustainability outcomes.
