The steel industry in Canada encounters some challenges to have sustainable and efficient steel production. One of these challenges is identifying bottlenecks accurately in steel fabrication workstations. The goal of the proposed research project is to improve work productivity for the partner company (Ocean Steel). The research work included conducting a literature review to evaluate what are the current applied solutions to resolve the same issue encountered with Ocean Steel. However, most of the solutions found were not applicable to Ocean Steel case (some improvement is required). Consequently, the work will include activities such as data collection automation, time studies, simulation modelling, and lean-based optimization. The partner company will benefit from this project by having an accurate information about their productivity and having a better opportunity of production and work improvement. Eventually, the partner company will be able to use the final deliverables from the research as a decision support syste
