Projecteur compressif à superrésolution

Research into so-called computational displays has shown that new and extended imaging modes can be made possible by augmenting novel optical design with computation. Examples include highdynamic range display via local LED backlights and multilayered autostereoscopic (glasses free 3D) displays. While there has been considerable progress in standard television form-factors, this line of research has only recently started to be explored for projectors. This project will examine the use of dual-modulated digital micromirror device (DMD) projector designs for the display of super-resolution content. Dual modulation refers to imaging one spatial modulator onto another in order to map each pixel of one modulator onto multiple pixels of the other. Spatial modulators may be LCD panels in standard displays or DMDs for projectors. The proposed design will be able to provide improved resolution to a variety of projection systems of the future, including digital cinema projectors, event setups, and home theater applications

Developing a biocontrol strategy for mitigating Aphanomyces infection in pulse crops

Pea and lentil are among the most widely grown pulse crops in Canada with great economic, nutrition, soil fertility, and environmental benefits. Aphanomyces is a disease that attacks pulse crops and leads to a yield lose of up to 50%. Currently, there are no reliable solutions to control the disease and stop the spread. We propose a bio-control solution and If we succeed in controlling this disease, the Canadian pulse growers will be the primary beneficiaries. Some of to the Canadian community includes, increased yields for pea and lentil crops; and farmers previously unable to grow pea and lentil due to Aphanomyces impacted soils can take advantage of the more profitable pea and lentil specialty crops. Enhancing pulse production directly or indirectly contributes to the Canadian economy, health, and environment. Increasing reliable protein production from pulses, increases food security and helps to mitigate the risk of increased food costs to Canadian consumers.

HR onboarding strategy for city expansion – RUNNR Delivery

With RUNNR scaling operations over the next year, not only in Saskatoon, but across Western Canada, RUNNR will have many challenges to overcome to do so. One major area that will impact RUNNR’s growth strategy over the next year is our driver and employee hiring processes. In order to successfully scale operations to new markets, RUNNR will need to onboard both new internal employees to manage growth, and new drivers to meet growing daily delivery volumes. Both areas of the business prove critical to develop and implement a hiring and onboarding strategy as without, RUNNR will not have a strong foundation to grow from. If this were to be the case, RUNNR will not be able to scale to our potential and be restricted soley based on our inability to efficiently and systematically onboard key members.

Mobile App Development Internship – 2

Problem to solve
• 2 million+ women/men of visible minority in Canada and have significant difficulty finding beauty services and products that fit their needs, personality, hair type and skin tone.
• 10,000+ salon owners and independent beauticians of visible minority do not have any platform to promote, grow and provide beauty services.

Sliike Business Solution
Sliike develops an App and website that solves the problems outlined above by using its technology platform (App and website) to bring beauty services and products closer to people of visible minority (BIPOC – Black, Indigenous, People of Color) as well as all Canadians. The platform will provide indirect jobs for independent beauticians and barbers who have the skill set to perform their trade but no platform to exercise their trade. The platform will promote the grow of the beauticians’ trade and provide them visibility and increased revenue while users (clients of beauticians) will have choices, comfort, convenience, and quality.
Sliike platform will also be place of community and engagement for people of visible minority and new immigrants to Canada to connect, engage, integrate, collaborate, and share stories/experiences. The platform will promote culture, values and history of visible minorities and connect them to Canadians.

The platform will also be a one-stop shop for connecting beauticians and their clients to brands in cosmetics, fashion, lifestyle, beauty, home care and personal care.

Articial Intelligence and Machine Learning Implementation into a CRM

The proposed research is for the intern to work with BlueMind Inc. to gather and build data on different types of insurance client scenarios. Once this data is aggregated the intern must work with the organization to clean, organize and label the data. Finally, the outcome of the project should be AI models based on the data to detect fraudulent activity, conduct predictive analysis, and enhance current product recommendation tools in BlueMind. As BlueMind is an existing digital office for insurance advisors, the partner organization will benefit from the project by having new capabilities and features in their platform that will help enhance the experience and business practices of their users (advisors and insurance agencies).

Project Evaluation: Digital Stories for PCHC-MoM

Pacific Canada Heritage Centre and Museum of Migration (PCHC-MoM) is determined to end the stigma around cultural-specific foods. To do this, PCHC-MoM engages in storytelling projects that match volunteers to storytellers and has volunteers create videos on their food establishments. These videos discuss the history of the foods, its importance to the community, and the migration of it to British Columbia. By distributing these videos to the wider public, it helps Canadians make sense of why some foods are stigmatized and helps to break barriers in order to end the stigma on foreign looking and oddly smelling foods.

Supercritical CO2 Extraction and Fractionation of Essential Oils from Canadian Hops and Mint

This project aims to evaluate environmentally friendly supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO2) extraction and fractionation processes to obtain essential oils from Canadian hops and mint to better serve the industry and consumers. Using current extraction methods, the yield and purity of the extracts obtained are compromised, as well as its volatility for further use in food, and cosmetic applications, requiring further research on the stability for practical use of these extracts and fractions in various industries. In addition, more research is needed on scale up of this technology. The use of SC-CO2 as the solvent allows easy separation of the solvent from the extract and fractions. Results obtained from SC-CO2 extraction in terms of yield and product quality will be compared to commercial essential oils. A high yield of essential oils and their stability will allow further use and commercialization as ingredients to various industries in Canada and international markets, strengthening Canada’s agricultural and processing sectors.

Indigenous Women’s Healing Centre- Case Work

Interns will be assisting current staff in creating the Summer Schedule for Programming for the children who live with their mothers at the IWHC, which will begin once they are done school at the end of June. Once the Summer Programming Schedule is approved, interns will help staff implement the summer programming with the women and children.
As well, I as an Intern intend to shadow and learn Case Management skills (Intake Process and learning the social history and needs of the potential incoming participant). Other Case Management skill I would like to learn and practice are the steps to creating a case consult prep and presentation, which is given to the Board of Directors and Staff to determine whether a woman is able to be taken on as a participant in the program. Lastly, once comfortable, Interns can take on roles of co-facilitating day programming to the women, such as cooking lessons or seminars on self-confidence. Throughout this I will be using qualitative, participatory research skills to interact with cleints in the programs and then developing case studies to help suoort the work of the IWHC
