Good Local – Developer 3

The intern shall participate in a research and development project to create applications for the Goodlocal organization, that will help the organization expand it’s support of local businesses by providing logistical and operational services. Goodlocal’s body of work have confirmed that their successful online marketplace has largely benefited local business owners and in line with their mission, a new logistical service will be launched to help small businesses. Student interns will participate in developing an application to help Goodlocal offer delivery services aimed to help vendors outside of the Goodlocal marketplace, to delivering products and orders to buyers in the fastest and most economical route possible and help businesses reach a new range of customers both far and wide. The application will consist of both desktop and mobile app components. Investigation of temporal patterns in fish presence and abundance at intertidal weirs in Minas Passage and Minas Basin

The Bay of Fundy is recognized as an area of high ecological importance and is home to a diverse fish assemblage. FORCE, Canada’s leading test centre for tidal energy research and development, is currently assessing the potential for tidal energy development in the Upper Bay of Fundy’s Minas Passage. Since 2009, FORCE’s Environmental Effects Monitoring (EEM) program has included a variety of strategies to better understand fish use of the turbine test area. It has been proposed that commercial intertidal weirs along the shores of the Minas Passage and Basin be used to help address identified information gaps within the EEM program, in particular the seasonal abundance and movements of fishes in and near the Minas Passage. A cooperative monitoring and research project with selected commercial weir fishers will be conducted to collect pre-turbine baseline data on the presence and abundance of resident and migratory, commercial and noncommercial fishes.

Marketing Coordinator

Given the unfold of Covid, we have seen a need and requirement for less face to face and a shift to digital approach to gain market share and influencing our end users decisions to gain familiarity and move forward with us. This need has also been required for a while, as I have gone through a large number of our client base that will voluntarily meet for lunches and coffees. We mostly see now the individuals who just want material, thus leaving the relationship building curve of mine in a slight plateau.

Business Development Co-op

COVID-19 has impacted the housing, architecture, and construction industry in many ways. On the one hand, it has made affordable and sustainable housing a much higher priority, but on the other hand, it has also made developers more risk-averse.
Intelligent City is a technology-enabled housing company that leverages technology to solve these problems. We are looking to grow and support our business analysis and development team to connect to our market. Interns will support us in this critical task and learn about many aspects of design, construction, and housing.
Intelligent City is looking for interns to assist us in the market analysis, client database and outreach. As an early-stage growth company, Intelligent City is looking to expand its market from B.C. to all across Canada, and understand the nuances in every city, region, and province.
This is a crucial task as we are learning about the market we are in every day. As an outcome, the internship will establish market and client databases, outreach protocols, and a deeper understanding of the wants and needs of our clients.

Product Management Intern

As a startup, the pandemic paused what would otherwise be regular business and product lifecycles. Our timelines were negatively affected. In 2020, we were set back months and prevented from hiring economically. We have moved past design thinking (needs, research, observation, concepts, hypothesis) and prototyping. We are now building a minimum viable enterprise product, entering the” build?feedback?idea” loop, and moving toward production code and sales. Interns with a deep understanding of strategy in various domains will be critical to our success in moving from MVP into production.

Anticipated Project
Activities
This role will be focused on the go to market (G&A) side of software manufacturing and production. Some of the expected projects may be:
Planning MVP to production for multiple verticals (healthcare, insurance, enterprise software, etc)
Marketing/PR Strategy
Project management skills
Market insights (build our Gartner profile)
Investor Strategy
Web development communications (focus on messaging and copy)
Diligence on strategy requirements (i.e., replace outsourced operational business consultants for operations)
Diligence/Strategy on business applications and tools
Lean manufacturing
