The WaferBoard™ is a “waffle iron” for prototyping electronic systems. In the envisioned
concept, the user simply place components in the WaferBoard™ and close the cover.
”WaferBoard™ then senses the component contacts and recognizes the components and
interconnects them. The prototype is now ready to be brought up and run. The candidate will
do research on interface with other PCB tools. The first objective consists to define a public

The aims of this research project are to develop, implement and evaluate an innovative, interactive on-line education and training package for non-government, community based Health Care Providers (HCPs) on Domestic Violence (DV) screening and intervention. There are multiple reasons that Health Care Providers (HCPs) do not include routine screening for DV in their care practices; however, what is not apparent is what is being done to address the barriers to HCPs screening and intervention for DV. Therefore, this project is based on addressing what we already know of the barriers for DV screening and intervention by developing and implementing an innovative, accessible and sustainable on-line education and training resource package to increase knowledge and confidence in DV screening and intervention, in a time effective manner, that does not impede the quality of the education and training. This resource can be tailored to combine with face to face training, but may potentially reduce the length of time required for the face to face sessions, thereby fitting more readily into the HCPs busy schedules.TBC

Recent rapid increase in the number of Chinese international students with English as a second language (ESL) attending Canadian schools has led to the exploration of in-service ESL teachers’ teaching strategies towards these students. Working with View-Wide International Education Group and using multiple case studies, this study will articulate the nature and challenges of ESL teaching and identify various ESL instruction means. It will also investigate ESL teachers’ perceptions of the influence of ESL programs on English language acquisition by Chinese international students and support these students by ensuring their academic and social needs are being met. This study is important in that it can provide teachers, ESL program developers and school administrators with concrete data based on the direct experiences of ESL teachers teaching Chinese international students

Over the last few decades, the air transport industry in Sweden has been altered and deregulated in such a way that the industry is now completely fueled by competition. Indeed, airline pilots now face drastically different working conditions that are cause for concern due to the nature of these changes, and their resulting safety risks. Thus, the aim of the proposed project is to examine the effects of factors that influence perceptions of safety cultures and how these perceptions might influence associated work conditions, well-being, and safety. More specifically, the proposed project attempts to address whether different pilots have common perceptions of safety climate, and if so, to determine what characterizes these safety climates and associated health and well-being.

Meeting the growing energy demands in a sustainable fashion is one of the greatest
challenges of this century. This projects aims to evaluate a promising renewable energy
source: concentrated photovoltaics (CPV). The configuration developed by our partner
promises to offer utility-scale solar power at competitive prices, making it a viable alternative.
It is based on large steel and glass structures that focus the incident light to reach over 1000x
concentration onto a large array of high performance triple junction photovoltaic cells. The
viability of this approach depends on structural, optical, optoelectrical, and thermal aspects,
that will all be studied in this project. We will experimentally and numerically study the
deformations due to meteorological loads, and evaluate their impact on non-uniform
illumination of the cell array. The electrical behaviour of the cells under these conditions will
then be characterised, along with the cooling performance. Integration of CPV into an urban grid will also be evaluated. If successful, this type of CPV………………………………………………………………………………………………….
