Over the last few decades, the air transport industry in Sweden has been altered and deregulated in such a way that the industry is now completely fueled by competition. Indeed, airline pilots now face drastically different working conditions that are cause for concern due to the nature of these changes, and their resulting safety risks. Thus, the aim of the proposed project is to examine the effects of factors that influence perceptions of safety cultures and how these perceptions might influence associated work conditions, well-being, and safety. More specifically, the proposed project attempts to address whether different pilots have common perceptions of safety climate, and if so, to determine what characterizes these safety climates and associated health and well-being.

Meeting the growing energy demands in a sustainable fashion is one of the greatest
challenges of this century. This projects aims to evaluate a promising renewable energy
source: concentrated photovoltaics (CPV). The configuration developed by our partner
promises to offer utility-scale solar power at competitive prices, making it a viable alternative.
It is based on large steel and glass structures that focus the incident light to reach over 1000x
concentration onto a large array of high performance triple junction photovoltaic cells. The
viability of this approach depends on structural, optical, optoelectrical, and thermal aspects,
that will all be studied in this project. We will experimentally and numerically study the
deformations due to meteorological loads, and evaluate their impact on non-uniform
illumination of the cell array. The electrical behaviour of the cells under these conditions will
then be characterised, along with the cooling performance. Integration of CPV into an urban grid will also be evaluated. If successful, this type of CPV………………………………………………………………………………………………….

Plant diseases damage crops in both yield and quality. Outbreaks of plant diseases can cause huge losses to crops, threatening food security globally. It is of great importance to study plant immunity and understand how plants respond to pathogen attacks in nature. My recent work in the model plant Arabidopsis identified a mutation in a novel oxygenase BDA5 which is involved in plant immunity. However, the biochemical function of BDA5 remains unclear. My proposed research project will reveal the substrate and product of BDA5 and elucidate how these molecules help plant defend against pathogen attack. My research will thus help further our understanding of the plant immune system.
