Étude et modélisation des processus thermodynamiques et cinétiques de stabilisation de l’austénite de réversion dans des aciers inoxydables martensitiques

Les propriétés des matériaux sont intimement liées à leur organisation interne ou microstructure. Pour les aciers constituant les ailes de turbines de centrales hydrauliques, on pense que la microstructure idéale pour augmenter leur durée de vie, consiste dans le mélange de deux phases: martensite et austénite. Cependant, l’austénite n’existe pas dans le matériau de départ et doit être formée par un traitement thermique dont on souhaite connaître les caractéristiques afin d’aboutir à la quantité et à la répartition souhaitée d’austénite. En s’appuyant sur les résultats expérimentaux, nous voulons réaliser sur ordinateur, en utilisant les logiciels de calcul thermodynamique Thermo–?Calc et DICTRA, un modèle physique de cet acier, ainsi que d’autres aciers de la même famille qui permettra de prédire la formation et la stabilité de l’austénite afin de mieux connaître et d’optimiser les procédés de fabrication, les traitements thermiques et les performances des aciers.

Assessing forest harvesting impacts on furbearer habitat at the scale of Indigenous traplines – A case study in Indigenous consultation

The “Assessing forest harvesting impacts on furbearer habitat at the scale of Indigenous traplines – A case study in Indigenous consultation and forest conservation” project is planned to enhance the understanding of Indigenous rights holders concerning forest management activities that impact the distribution of forest types and ages upon which the forest dwelling wildlife that sustain traditional trapping and harvesting depend. It also promises to lay the groundwork for customized consultation approaches with Indigenous tenure holders, such that the aims of consultation are actually achieved. Current approaches to managing and maintaining wildlife habitat consider the availability of forests of a certain type and condition across vast areas between 100,000 ha to over 2 million ha in size. Trapline areas, by comparison, are small, rarely exceeding 10,00 ha in size. According to the status quo, mature forest within traplines that is eligible for harvesting at the macro scale of large forest management units is often planned to be harvested, with little effective consultation with Indigenous rights holders surrounding how these activities may affect habitat suitability within trapline areas upon which they depend for physical, cultural, and spiritual importance.

Prevalence of moderate-to-severe Osteoarthritis pain of the hip and knee by Index Joints in Canadian Primary Care: A proof of concept study from the Canadian Primary Care Sentinel Surveillance Network

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a common disease in middle-aged and older Canadians attending primary care practitioners. As the Canadian population ages and with increasing obesity, OA will become an increasing burden for individuals and the health care system. Given the potential of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) data for surveillance of the population that is at high risk of or is diagnosed with OA, we will apply text mining method to investigate this problem further. In this project, we will develop an information extraction and processing pipeline to extract information about specific index joints to assess the prevalence and severity of OA related pain severity and mobility issues in the major joints of the leg (hip and knee).

Lorsqu’une catastrophe majeure survient, l’organisation rapide et efficace des secours est un facteur important pour circonscrire l’impact de l’événement. Un facteur déterminant pour la bonne organisation des secours est la disponibilité d’une information rapide et fiable recensant les infrastructures et les bâtiments qui sont endommagés et ceux qui sont encore opérationnels. Pour réaliser rapidement cette cartographie, l’utilisation d’images de télédétection est une option envisageable depuis que des images satellitaires à très haute résolution, tant optiques que radars, sont disponibles. Le 20 octobre 2000, l’Agence spatiale canadienne (ASC), avec l’Agence spatiale européenne et le Centre national d’études spatiales française (CNES), signaient la Charte Internationale « Espace et catastrophes majeures ». Depuis, neuf agences spatiales se sont jointes à cette Charte. Celle-ci vise à offrir un système unifié d’acquisition et de livraison des données satellitaires dans les cas de catastrophes d’origine naturelle ou humaine.

The student will be developing digital transformation strategies that integrate digital tools or solutions in a meaningful and purposeful way, in order to satisfy the needs and desires of audiences and customers, and so that the organization and others like it can sustainably weather future crises. This iterative development work will take into account audience experience, collective experience, participation and intimacy, core aspects of the public experience of cultural offerings.
