Enterprise4Good – Social Media Marketing Intern (1)

COVID is assumed to benefit the reusable marketplace. As homeowners are stuck in their homes there is a resurgence of renovation activity which would benefit the Good4U store. In addition, when money is tight there are now even more purchasers in the marketplace looking for bargains to save money. As mentioned previously, instead of profits benefited an owner, proceeds from the Good4U store will benefit the quality of life for some of the most vulnerable people in our community…children with disabilities and seniors with memory care issues.

Privacy Analysis of Mobile Analytics

Many companies require the gathering of user behavioural data from mobile devices and device applications in order to: i) improve their products, ii) monitor their systems, iii) engage in targeted marketing, etc. Significant privacy concerns exist with the measurement and storage of such data. In general, existing research highlights that data anonymization can be insufficient to fully address these risks, i.e. that anonymized data can be clustered and correlated with external sources to reveal private information. The emerging legal and statutory frameworks around privacy entail that there is beginning to be a strong need to be able to quantify privacy issues in terms of their resultant business risks, as well as a need to be able to properly restructure business solutions to mitigate these risks.

Evaluation of pollinator restoration and management in The Meadoway

The purpose of this project is to identify bees and evaluate plant-pollinator networks based on the biomonitoring surveys conducted at the Meadoway in 2020 in partnership with the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA). The aim of these surveys is to develop a baseline understanding of bee diversity in the Meadoway and evaluate the impacts of restoration, as well, to improve these practices for restoration by TRCA into the future. The intern will conduct timed bee surveys at the Meadoway at sites 1-3 years post restoration and on specific flowers. Bees will be identified to species level and used to develop a synoptic collection for the Meadoway. The plant-pollinator networks will allow the intern to rank plants present in the Meadoway based on attractiveness and value to wild bees. This information will be available to TRCA for their ongoing projects that target biodiversity conservation in public spaces.

Measuring and Quantifying Mobile User Quality of Experience

The objective of this research is to develop an on-device, quality of experience (QoE) measurement suite, for Android based mobile devices. As mobile devices become the predominant method with which the world accesses the internet, it becomes increasingly important to understand the complex interaction between applications, mobile OS’s, the networks they run on, and the behaviours of a user base at large. Doing so with mobile devices raises a set of issues that aren’t present with traditional PC’s, and as such haven’t been explored thoroughly. This process of understanding will facilitatemaintaining, and improving upon, the end user’s derived value through their experience with their mobile device. The suite to be developed here, and the work that will go into developing it, will aide inevaluating the degree to which the aforementioned information can be collected.

Mobile Hearing Tests

This project is to focus on building an application which can be used to perform a hearing test on a mobile device (such as an iPhone or iPad). The intern is to implement a white-label (brand-free and easily reusable) application which can be easily distributed by doctor’s offices and hearing centers with their specific brand and information. The intern will use mathematical techniques to help gather and analyze user information more efficiently in order to provide a fast, accurate assessment of the user’s hearing and direct the user for further diagnosis if necessary. The benefit to the partner organization is the creation of an application which with minimal modification can be marketed to hospitals, hearing centers, and other medical-related fields. In addition the company will gain valuable benefits from working with academic partners such as access to sophisticated analysis and simulation software (such as MATLAB).

Catyeus Inc. – Digital Marketing Strategy Intern

Under the COVID-19 lockdown, it has become difficult for us to reach our target market segment through conventional channels. Hence as an organization, we have taken a strategic call to reduce our over-reliance on traditional sales & distribution channels and explore digital & social media platforms to reach our target segment in the Canadian market. The Digital Marketing Strategy Intern would help the founder and his team to establish the organization’s digital footprint and would help develop, implement, track, and optimize the company’s digital marketing campaigns across all digital channels. The Digital Marketing Strategy Intern would help the founder and his team to establish the organization’s digital footprint across Canada and globally, and would help develop, implement, track, and optimize the company’s digital marketing campaigns across all digital channels. The sustainable top-line through digital presence would reduce our dependency on funds through assistance programs, enable us to bootstrap, and generate employment opportunities in the future.

Validating Existing Understandings of National Nonprofit Environments

The politics of information, and information availability, affect civil society’s ability to participate in democratic governance and the ability to establish accountability and credibility. New nonprofit regulations create additional reporting requirements, but much of this information is withheld from the sector itself. The proposed project will produce reports on the data environment of each region (Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Eastern Europe), using information from the Global Registry of Nonprofit Data Sources (GRNDS) on what data national governments collect on their national nonprofits validated by local organizations (members of GivingTuesday in 12 selected countries), in comparison to other data environments in the region and globally. Increasing GivingTuesday member organizations’ awareness of their national nonprofit data environments, and how these compare to regional norms and global best practices, will empower these organizations to find new funding sources, connect with new partners, improve collaboration, and advocate for improvements to their data environments.

Muscle Oxygenation characteristics of elite middle-distance runners

Middle-distance running events require a high blend of endurance alongside speed and power characteristics, to produce a fast rate of energy production in large capacities. Oxygen delivery is one of the limitations to enhancing the rate of energy production, which in part is determined by the ability of the muscle to extract oxygen delivered in the blood from the lungs. Therefore this project aims to understand the muscle oxygen extraction characteristics of elite middle-distance runners, and how this relates to other performance parameters.
This work will have transferable practical applications for sports that require fast rate of energy production in large capacities over a 1.5-10 minute duration (e.g cycling, kayak, swimming, rowing, and speed skating). The findings of this project will stimulate development of targeted interventions that improve oxygen delivery to the muscle.

New Mobile Mapping platform with High-Resolution images & 3D scanning

MMS (Mobile Mapping System) contains three principal components: positioning sensors, measurement sensors and mobile vehicle. This kind of system records geospatial data and provide GIS applications like: supervising of highway state, monitoring of electricity poles, collecting data of public services (telecommunications lines, electricity transmission lines, traffic signpost and pedestrian areas).
In this context, our solution is based on the integration of various navigation and data acquisition technologies to respond to many research problems like the data acquisition speed must be fast as possible because the planned system will be able to record geospatial data with a good quality when it is in moving with speed of 110 km/h, the second problem is the accuracy of data captured must achieve accuracies below than a few centimeters.

Examination of a 90-day self-compassion journal

Individuals can view their failures or inadequacies through a self-critical, isolated lens or they can view it through a self-compassionate one. Whereas the self-critical lens can increase stress and negative feelings, viewing failures or inadequacies with self-compassion leads to better coping and greater well-being. Self-compassion journaling is a low-cost means of helping individuals to increase their self-compassion. The purpose of this project will be to evaluate a 90-day self-compassion journal created by Tycho Project. Using quantitative and qualitative methods, we will examine participants’ experiences using the journal and whether they improved their self-compassion and well-being. This research may result in improvements to the journal which may enhance the effectiveness of future versions of the journal.

Study Renewal: Clinical Decision Support Software for Prediction of Postoperative Atrial Fibrillation Following Bypass Surgery

The problem of accurately predicting the onset of sustained postoperative atrial fibrillation (AF) in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) remains open. Investigators have reported many clinical indices currently associated with postoperative AF following CABG. Contemporary machine learning techniques are well-suited to recognizing underlying trends in ‘training’ data consisting of several labeled examples, and to using the results to classify new unlabeled data with remarkable sensitivity and specificity. We propose the development of advanced clinical decision support software capable of automatically gathering and analyzing relevant clinical data from patients undergoing CABG in order to provide physicians with objective and non-invasive insights into the likelihood of sustained postoperative AF so that patient morbidity and mortality, as well as healthcare costs, can be significantly reduced by targeting appropriate preventative therapies
