Vancouver, BC — From improving masks to developing a vaccine, Mitacs is rapidly deploying resources to mobilize Canadian researchers to develop solutions to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

In response to the Government of Canada’s and provinces’ announcements of funding for coronavirus research, Mitacs’s nationwide team of 80 business development experts are available to connect businesses and not-for-profit organizations with talent, equipment, and expertise in the post-secondary education system to develop innovative solutions.

With more than 20 years of experience developing innovation solutions, Mitacs has the established network, processes, and funding-delivery mechanisms to support the people working to address the problems resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.

With ‘boots-on-the-ground’ in communities across Canada, the business development team is currently equipped to address COVID-19-related projects by offering resources that include supporting companies, not-for-profit organizations, and researchers to answer government calls-for-proposals; assisting with the applications; expediting COVID-19 related projects; increasing the funding leverage; and connecting resources from the post-secondary education sector across Canada to rapidly develop solutions.
