Sales and Marketing Coordinator

I will be responsible for enhancing company growth by generating lead lists, participating in direct outreach, CRM management, while in direct
collaboration with CEO of the company. I will participate in weekly goal setting calls and meeting KPI’s in addition to obtaining a robust knowledge of the product, the movr app, will require me to speak clearly about corporate goals.

Threat Models in JavaScript Applications

In the modern world people want fast access to the right data at the right time. The facilitator of this data transmission and interconnection is the internet. People are sending and receiving data through their different devices. In this so called ubiquitous era service providers are moving from in shop servers to cloud environments and from “multiple implementations for different devices” to a “one application fit all devices” paradigm. These paradigm shifts while attractive, opens systems to previously unknown security risks. The previous man in the middle or black box security model is not sufficient and software security designers should also consider man at the end or white box attacks. In our research we attempt to address software security vulnerabilities, in particular client side code executed in these untrustworthy environments.

AYN

The Arctic is entering a digital age where web-based media acts as one of the main drivers behind ideologies and action, both in the north and beyond. In order to ensure that Arctic stories are driven by Arctic creators, northern youth are searching for opportunities to enter this journalistic space. To support their mission, the AYN created a publication brand under its global network, The Exchange, to enable a one-stop-shop for young northern voices to tell real-time stories of the massive social, economic, and environmental shifts that are occurring in the Arctic. The project brings together creative youth from different backgrounds and supports them in the exchange of ideas, news, and pertinent Arctic realities at individual, community, and global scales.

Protein Engineering Student

The multi-billion dollar fashion industry has a problem: many of the high-performance fabrics used in everything from haute couture to athletic wear have their origins in the petroleum industry, and so are neither sustainably produced nor environmentally friendly. This means that there is a considerable market gap in sustainable textiles, which are in increasing demand by eco-conscious consumers globally. Canadian textile corporations are tackling this problem head on by actively seeking environmentally friendly solutions. This proactive approach has led them to the concept of producing Textile Replacement iMolecules (TRiMs), a new class of synthetic computationally designed proteins, for the development of novel biomaterials for high-performance fabrics. The aim of this project is to produce TRiMs via a renewable, untapped resource – genetically engineered crop plants confined in greenhouses. As a Canadian product, the TRiM protein could rejuvenate the Canadian textile market. The use of TRiM protein in clothing will cement our place in the sought-after market of durable eco-fabrics. The use of this technology will ultimately create a new division of Canadian agriculture and textile manufacturing using the resources that are inherently available to the nation.

Digital Business Developer

The overall goal is to create a scalable system to increase sales digitally. As a result of COVID, the company has been forced to putting all their efforts into online interactions with their B2B and B2C customers. The key responsibilities for the intern will be working with the social media team in its daily activities while developing a clear and effective social media strategy.

Développement d’un algorithme de classification des nuages de points lidar aéroporté par apprentissage profond pour traiter des classes « non sol »

La compagnie XEOS Imagerie œuvre dans le domaine de l’acquisition de données lidar (Light Detection and Ranging). Elle désire extraire automatiquement les points associés au sol et aux objets à partir du nuage de points 3D brut de l’acquisition lidar. Deux stages précédents ont permis d’identifier les points « Sol » et « Eau ». Le projet proposé implique d’augmenter le nombre de classes qui seront identifiées automatiquement, notamment la végétation, les édifices, les routes et plusieurs types de structures humaines. XEOS désire tirer des avantages que procurent les techniques d’apprentissage profond, notamment par les réseaux de neurones convolutifs, pour identifier le sol et les objets dans les nuages de points lidar bruts acquis par son système aéroporté.

Program Development(Mitacs BSI)

Hatch is a student-led service center supported by CUSA (Carleton University Students’ Association). In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Hatch has moved all its program online and hopes to expand the programs, services and resources it offers to students with an interest in entrepreneurship/ business. My internship in Hatch will assist Hatch further develop its programs. Specifically, the intern will help to develop programming, consolidate and curate resources and tools for students, as well as aid in identifying and formalizing pathways and enhancing communication between Hatch and other organizations.

Program and Process Optimization

Hatch is a student-led service center and incubator program that is supported by CUSA (Carleton University Students’ Association). Hatch is seeking to expand the programs, services, and resources it offers to cater to the increasing number of students with an interest in entrepreneurship/business, an idea for a business or start-up, and those with a current business.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Hatch has transitioned all of its programmings online. During this time the Hatch directors have witnessed a surge in student enterprise from Carleton University as well as an uptake in students interested in entrepreneurship. As such, we believe an intern could play a valuable role in further developing the programs, processes, and governance structures needed to engage a larger student population and to better support student entrepreneurs.

Système de reconnaissance d’objets pour drone reposant sur un modèle d’apprentissage profond

L’objectif de ce projet pilote est d’équiper des drones longue portée avec un système complémentaire de navigation assistée par l’intelligence artificielle. Plus précisément, ce système permettra aux drones de mieux percevoir leur environnement et d’y réagir plus intelligemment. La principale préoccupation concernant les drones volant hors visibilité directe (HVD) est reliée au partage de l’espace aérien avec des aéronefs traditionnels et les autres drones. Cela crée un risque de collisions en vol. Malgré l’existence de systèmes de détection et d’évitement basés sur des solutions radar et acoustique, les avantages des caméras dans la reconnaissance d’objets/obstacles sont indéniables. Ainsi, l’objectif principal de ce projet est d’équiper des drones longue portée avec un système complémentaire et fiable de détection d’obstacle utilisant des caméras omnidirectionnelles et des techniques avancées de vision par ordinateur et d’apprentissage profond. Cette solution participera à améliorer le potentiel de réussite et la sécurité des opérations de vol HVD.

Mitacs Business Strategy Internship AYN

Arctic youth face massive social, economic, and environmental shifts and are working hard to address these in their communities and beyond. Access to the opportunities, resources, and contacts they need to develop as leaders are, however, often scarce, and where they do exist are often only accessible or known to a small group of people. As such, the Arctic Youth Network (AYN) is undergoing rapid expansion and growth to address and provide for youth needs. Organizations and governments are seeking partnerships with the AYN like never before, and membership growth rates for the network has doubled. The AYN in the coming months aims to evaluate its operations in order to better foster a collaborative community in the Arctic region that prioritizes sustainable development and is built on Arctic and Indigenous values.
Through this evaluation, the AYN aims to better democratize access to opportunities, expand its platform to amplify youth voices, provide for its volunteers and staff by building a more robust secretariat, and find new partners and methods to empower a community of young change-makers in the North. By redefining and improving its operations, the AYN seeks to better create an inclusive world where aspiring leaders have equitable access to resources to advance economic change their own way.

Operations Officer with the Arctic Youth Network

The operations role will be supporting with the supervising and monitoring of the entrepreneurship network and engagement program, as well as supporting the overall Arctic Youth Network (AYN) operating model. The role will involve gaining an understanding of the day-to-day operations of an international NGO as well completing a variety of tasks and strategic considerations that come into play when managing this type of organization. The partner organization is expected to benefit as the operations officer will work to restore and modify their business operations as the economy recovery begins.

economy that is driven by the next generation of business leaders, prioritizes sustainable development, and built on Arctic
and Indigenous values.

Through this network, the AYN aims to democratize access to opportunities, create a platform to amplify youth voices, and
empower a community of young change-makers in the North. By providing tools and spaces for collaboration, the AYN
seeks to create an inclusive world where aspiring leaders have equitable access to resources to advance economic
change their own way.
