Good News Ventures – Venture Capital Analyst Intern

GNV is seeking an intern to assist with a project to improve and document the venture capital investment process. This includes outbound deal flow sourcing of early stage technology startups, evaluation of startups, due diligence and supporting investees. Furthermore, some supporting duties related to the investment process such as outreach communications within the venture capital ecosystem and with investors may be assigned.

Riddl Tech Inc – Ming-Wen Tu

Due to Covid-19, we were required to shift our product launch and sales strategy. The original launch plan and sales strategy was focused on in-market travel, conferences and events in target markets such as London, NYC and San Francisco. Face to face gatherings is no longer an option for our global market reach. We now need to test and learn how to sell a new product, from a new company (unknown name & brand) digitally, while cutting through the global pandemic and social justice protests occurring within the US and the UK, our target markets.

BUSINESS STRATEGY INTERNSHIP

FurCanada currently has approximately 5000 clients located across the globe. During COVID-19, the company has had operational and financial challenges. The company is seeking an MBA student who could fill a critical role on the team and support the company in discovering new business opportunities in China to help the business recover sooner. Meanwhile, the intern will assist with local business projects, such as New Fur Tannery, Fur Learning School and Kania Trap 2000.

The Saint John Multicultural and Newcomers Resource Centre Inc. – Oluwatosin Ajibola

Communication Mapping Exercise – The intern will help build a communication map for The Saint John Multicultural and Newcomers Resource Centre that will help with effective communication between our team working remotely; and between our team and newcomers. Outcomes will include furthering the goals of developing tools and resources for pandemic programming i.e. furthering website development, newcomer guide, newcomer resources, editing close captioning on existing video footage etc.

VyoO (Applications Mobiles Overview Inc.)

Dans le cadre du projet de stratégie d’entreprise, l’objectif principal sera d’aider la directrice marketing et le Vice-Président Revenus, Luc Giguère, dans l’élaboration de la stratégie marketing de la compagnie. Pour la fin du stage, le but ultime est d’avoir compléter cette stratégie afin d’assurer une croissance saine et rapide de l’entreprise. Pour atteindre cet objectif, plusieurs différentes sous mandats devront être menés à terme. Plus précisément, voici une liste exhaustive des tâches prévues dans le cadre du stage : Aider à la création d’une image de marque cohérente et robuste, l’élaboration d’un plan de communication, une analyse concurrentielle, l’élaboration d’une stratégie de réseaux sociaux et de création de contenu, l’organisation d’un plan d’acquisition de nouveaux clients et une optimisation du site web de l’entreprise. Le tout sous la supervision et l’aide de l’équipe marketing de l’entreprise. Le mandat est donc multidisciplinaire et inclus tous les facettes du marketing.

An Information Services (IS) coordinator must be knowledgeable in software, hardware and networks. They must be critical thinkers and problem-solvers with great attention to detail. Since end user support and teamwork are important aspects of the role, excellent communication and people skills are required.

Liquid accelerated cold spray for copper deposition

The liquid accelerated cold spray (LACS) technology is an innovative process that uses a high-pressure liquid flow to accelerate metal and composite powders to very high velocities (above 500 m/s) so that, upon the impact on the substrate, they form a coating. Using a liquid instead of a gas as used in a traditional cold spray, makes it possible to spray particles with a larger size distribution owing to the high density of the liquid. The technology has the potential to reduce considerably the spraying costs (as compared to the current gas accelerated cold spray processes) and to deposit coatings on internal surfaces or surfaces difficult to access.

Apps, mobile games, cloud based services have become ubiquitous and integral to our daily lives. These apps, although free to use, can be expensive to produce and make money either through ads or in-app or program purchases. Companies developing these services have to make software that are not only easy to use and attractive, but also integrate money making attributes without affecting user experience, thereby building a loyal user base. This research is focused on developing a standardized framework for building scalable and adaptable software to provide companies a way not only to generate revenue but also adapt it for mass use around the world.

CoEfficient Building Science Ltd. – Internship

CoEfficient Building Science Ltd. is a small building science consulting firm operating in British Columbia, Alberta, and Ontario. Their purpose is to accelerate the transition to a zero-carbon built environment and are doing so through the delivery of energy efficiency programs for residential buildings, cutting-edge research in large building airtightness testing, and consulting services for large/commercial building projects. Previous partners of the company include the National Research Council of Canada, Ryerson University, the University of Toronto, Sustainable Buildings Canada, and PCL Construction.
As an intern, I would assist CoEfficient to continue its growth by identifying and reaching out to existing market opportunities through effective marketing, by communicating new research funding opportunities for advanced large building air-tightness testing through proposal writing, and by strengthening work on special projects. There would be a wide range of marketing, business development, management, and special projects that I would manage and/or assist with.

Business Strategy Intern

To help launch an e-commerce platform for Labatt to mitigate the ongoing challenge of COVID-19 and the impact of on-premise locations closing. The e-commerce platform will enable shoppers to buy alcohol in an on-demand way. The phases of the project include market research, competitive analysis, performance monitoring of the pilot project, and providing key strategic insights to the Labatt Strategy and E-commerce team.

Integrative and Capacitating Workforce EDI

The City of Winnipeg is concerned to support the workplace experiences of employees from equity-seeking groups. This research will survey employees and convene focus groups to facilitate employees to reflect on and discuss how diverse backgrounds and experiences can be recognized and promoted as assets within the City workforce. Employees will be engaged in exercises allowing them to prioritize capacitation and integration in the workplace, and resources will be developed for continuing education.
