Government of Canada invests in Mitacs through the National Quantum Strategy

Ottawa, ON – Mitacs, a national not-for-profit organization dedicated to fostering innovation in Canada, today announced that they will receive an investment of $40 million from Innovation, Science, and Economic Development Canada (ISED) through the National Quantum Strategy.  

First announced in January 2023, the National Quantum Strategy will help amplify Canada’s position as a leader in quantum research and help foster Canadian quantum companies and grow a talent pipeline in the field. 

Mitacs will support the attraction, training, retention, and deployment of highly qualified personnel in quantum science and technology and support R&D and innovation in the field through innovation internship experiences and professional skills development. This work will bring major benefits to companies working in the field.  

Quantum technology is the future and Mitacs looks forward to continuing to partner with the federal government to ensure Canada’s remains at the leading edge of this important and growing sector.
