Mitacs named nominating partner of Governor General’s Innovation Awards

Vancouver, BC – Mitacs, a national non-profit research and training organization, has been named a nominating partner of the Governor General’s Innovation Awards. The goal of the Innovation Awards is to inspire Canadians to embrace innovation and recognize entrepreneurs who have developed new or better ways of creating value for Canadians.

The Innovation Awards will be given to individuals, teams, and/or organizations whose innovations are exceptional and transformative, and have a positive impact on quality of life in Canada.

The Governor General’s Innovation Awards program is a collaborative effort with a limited number of nominating partners whose knowledge network is capable of identifying the best innovators. Drawn from all sectors of society, the nominating partners will submit nominations on behalf of their members, clients, partners, and associates.

The call for nominations will be launched in the fall of 2015. The selection process of award recipients will take place in the winter of 2016, with the inaugural Innovation Awards ceremony to follow in the spring of 2016.
