Mitacs partner University of Calgary celebrates 50th anniversary

Calgary, AB – Mitacs offers congratulations to the University of Calgary on its 50th anniversary this year. Since 2008, the University of Calgary and Mitacs have partnered to provide experiential learning opportunities to students and postdocs through the Mitacs programs.

Mitacs and the University of Calgary have collaborated on hundreds of projects:

  • 227 Mitacs Accelerate research internships, which enable U of C graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to broaden their research impact by connecting with organizations within the private and not-for-profit sectors and applying their skills to new challenges
  • 28 Mitacs Elevate fellowships, which offer U of C postdoctoral fellows two-year professional development plans and collaborative research projects, building capacity for the next generation of R&D management leaders
  • 156 Mitacs Globalink Research internships, which provide international undergraduate students opportunities to strengthen their international networks through 12-week research internships with U of C professors

In addition, 528 Calgary students have attended Mitacs Step workshops, which train graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in essential interpersonal, project management, and entrepreneurial skills.

The delivery of Mitacs programs occurs with the support and partnership of the University of Calgary, the Government of Alberta, and the Government of Canada. Over the past seven years, a total investment value of almost $5.3 million has been sent to the university.
