This study will examine the decision-making processes of evaluators when engaging in risk management planning for cases of intimate partner violence (IPV). Threat assessment professionals will be recruited to participate in in-depth interviews and will be presented with a gold standard IPV risk assessment report prepared using the Spousal Assault Risk Assessment Guide – Version 3 (SARA-V3). Participants will be asked to reflect on which components of the risk assessment report influenced their decision-making about risk management recommendations. Findings from this study will be used to enhance evidence-based violence risk assessment and management for IPV through the identification of training objectives and best practice guidelines in risk management planning.
