Adoption of a Hospital Decision-Support System: A Revised UTAUT Model

One key stumbling block to the success of health care systems has been their adoption and use by health care. This study will employ the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) as the basis for determining what predicts health care professionals’ acceptance and perceived effective use of Oculys’ DSS. It is the goal of this research to study the contextual features of the health care setting which may influence the adoption and use of the DSS, to adapt the UTAUT model accordingly, and to test the modified UTAUT model at SJHC in a longitudinal study. The study will take place in two phases – three to four months after system implementation, and; six to seven months after system implementation. Data collection will consist of focus groups, electronic surveys, and system logs of use.
