Ammara Syeda

Due to the fact that the IT Department at the City of Saskatoon is facing multiple challenges due to COVID-19, the current service catalog and ticketing systems are lacking efficient self-service options, which are vital during this time. Using my previous UX knowledge, I hope to assess the current systems in place and collaborate with others in the IT department to come up with efficient solutions. The first step would be to analyze what the IT Department is already working with—this means using business, statistical, and functional analysis to narrow down strengths and weaknesses of a specific system. Although I have more experience with coding and software interface design, I have already started learning about the different types of business analyses and hope this will help me in creating viable solutions for the IT Department. Apart from improving the systems in place, there is a greater need for increased non-traditional business hours, which means we will have to work around those times as well. At the end of this internship, I hope to have picked up more knowledge on UX research and how to properly convey business challenges through the use of different analytical tools. I’m also looking forward to working within the team, making meaningful connections, and improving my presentation skills.
