ArtsJunktion Environmental Impact Study & ReCreation Station Development

ArtsJunktion MB Inc. is a Winnipeg based charitable organization who inspires creativity through their take-what-you-need, pay-what-you-can materials depot and creation workspace that supports accessibility and diversity. ArtsJunktion is dedicated to environmental consciousness and reducing landfill waste by focusing on community awareness programing and repurposing materials received from local community members, businesses, and organizations. Late last year, ArtsJunktion acquired two pieces of equipment from Precious Plastics – a shredder and an injector. This equipment will allow for the creation of multi-use products from single use plastics that are not accepted by recycling programs. Being the only organization in Manitoba and one of a few in Canada that have this equipment, ArtsJunktion is blazing a trail with their new ReCreation Station. This internship project looks to develop a standard operating procedure manual and materials to educate the community on this new creative equipment and assist in further development of the ReCreation Station department. As ArtsJucktion is an environmentally aware organization and desires to reduce landfill waste, this internship project will also look at the impact that the organization is having on diverting materials.
