Asper School of Business – Mitacs BSI – Carbon Block

The day to day will be conducting research into (1) What the existing carbon offset methodologies are and how they are composed,( 2) how solar specifically reduces coal/natural gas, (3) How to prove solar production by location, (4) how to calculate grid CO2 intensity from different grid inputs, i.e. 50% coal, 25% natural gas, 20% wind, 5% solar. The latter half of their time with Carbon Block will be to assemble/summarize their research into a report that details how the carbon offset calculations are made. We will use this report to quantify the carbon offsets our technology is creating. As technical lead, the student will report to the co-founder, Alex Stuart and he will be able to give specific instructions as necessary, however the student will need to be self-motivated. The student will not be presenting or speaking with customers, so verbal command of English is not critical.
