Assessment of a manure additive in reducing GHG emissions from liquid hog manure

Livestock manure represent a significant source of GHG emissions in agriculture section of Canada. This project aims to assess the effectiveness of a manure additive in reducing N20 and CH4 emissions during the storage of liquid hog manure, as well as the carry-on effect on soil GHG emissions after the additive-treated manure being applied to farmland. Two laboratory studies will be designed and conducted to achieve those objectives. Results of this study will clarify the benefits of manure additives, and help to provide a novel GHG mitigation strategy in manure management.
